AI: Your Escape from Corporate Tech

For the past 16 years, I’ve been navigating the corporate tech world, writing code and building systems for massive, multi-billion-dollar companies with thousands of employees. It paid the bills, and let’s be honest—at the end of the day, we all need to earn a living. But over time, those comfortable corporate paychecks can start to feel a bit like golden handcuffs. They subtly delay you from pursuing what you actually want to do: stepping away from the corporate giants to do work you’re truly passionate about, like helping small businesses thrive.

The Corporate Treadmill vs. The Dream

If we’re being real, allowing a handful of mega-corporations to control every aspect of our lives isn’t sustainable. It leaves the majority of us living paycheck to paycheck, terrified of the next wave of corporate layoffs or economic downturns. Don’t get me wrong—large corporations have their place. For massive infrastructure or highly complex global supply chains, competition among big players can drive down prices and benefit consumers. But does that model need to apply to every niche and industry?

Take the food industry, for example. Do we really need a McDonald’s on every single corner, or would we be better off if a diverse network of independent, local entrepreneurs filled that space? When small businesses and self-employed creators run the show, we usually get higher quality, more affordable products. That’s because local shops aren’t aggressively marking up prices just to fund massive dividend payouts and executive bonuses. Unfortunately, the current system often keeps small creators financially limited, while massive corporations absorb all the oxygen in the room.

AI is the Ultimate Game Changer

For a long time, making the leap from corporate tech to serving small businesses felt too risky. But right now, the rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence is completely changing the landscape. AI is the great equalizer, and it’s the exact catalyst I’m using to finally make my career shift.

My new mission is clear: I want to build custom AI solutions and teach small business owners how to leverage these incredibly powerful tools to hit their goals. Suddenly, a local bakery, a freelance graphic designer, or a boutique consulting firm can automate their workflows, analyze their data, and scale their marketing just like the big guys do. AI lowers the barrier to entry, making it entirely possible for small businesses to punch way above their weight class.

A New Model: Tech Geeks Championing the Underdog

Imagine a shift in how we, as tech professionals, offer our skills. What if we started using AI to help the “little guy” succeed?

Instead of a brilliant tech worker spending 40 hours a week optimizing a tiny feature for one colossal monopoly, imagine a small squad of 2-3 like-minded tech geeks. Armed with AI, this tiny team could easily build, maintain, and support tech infrastructure for 30 to 40 local businesses and solopreneurs.

By shifting our target clients, we aren’t just changing our careers—we are actively participating in wealth redistribution. We are keeping money in our local communities, helping real people achieve financial independence, and finding far more personal fulfillment along the way.
